I absolutely love plants! My granny had a mini jungle when I was growing up so having plants around remind me of her. There are several benefits to having plants. One of the major ones being that they purify the air. In my house you can find several plants. I keep most of them in my dining room because that’s where I get the most sunlight. Recently I had been doing a lot of research on what is a good air purifier to purchase for our basement. Hubby smokes and the basement is not a walk out one so there isn’t good ventilation. He isn’t the only one in the family that smokes, we have several family members who smoke as well. They typically all retreat to the basement since that’s where they can watch tv and play dominoes, etc. We live in Kansas and our summers can be extremely hot and winters can be brutally cold so the it’s a good place to hangout when they don’t want to be outside on the deck.

I reached out to Levoit to review either their electric kettle or air fryer but they were looking for someone to review their air purifier or their humidifier. It was perfect timing really. I requested the air purifier and was sent it to review for free. We have had it for a week now and let me tell you that this product is fantastic!

The air purifier arrived two days earlier than expected which I was totally stoked about. The packaging was a thick cardboard box that had the air purifier inside another box for safe keeping. This protected it from any bumps or bruises that it might endure during shipping. It was quick and easy to put together. This is my kind of stuff simple, easy, quick, and great quality. My original thought was to put it in the basement but I quickly changed my mind and put it in the living room since our dining room has several plants to purify the air already.

We set it on Auto when it arrived so it could adjust as needed through out the day/night. During the first couple of days of having it we fired up the fireplace for the first time this season and let me tell you this baby did not disappoint. It immediately turned from blue to red. Indicating that the air quality was bad. Once the initial flames died down it turned orange. Indicating the air quality was moderate. It never turned to green (good) or blue (very good) until the fire was completely out and the glass doors to the fireplace were closed.

It’s normally in a green or blue state but sometimes turns to red or orange randomly. During theses times I believe it might be picking up smells from our neighbors townhome because we have it next to one of the joining walls or it’s just doing it’s thing and cleaning our air even when we aren’t cooking or running the fireplace.

Overall, I love it and we will definitely be purchasing one for our basement because I just can’t let this one go downstairs now that I’ve seen it in action. The cost of the one that we received for free is $199 on Amazon but can also be found on the Levoit website. It comes with one filter, you can purchase additional ones on Amazon for $49. If you’re looking for more details there is a great video of the Air Purifier on the Levoit YouTube page.
